This year the IMPA London Conference programme has been revamped to keep up with the ever-growing mix of purchasers and suppliers in attendance. We have developed each session to have a specific focus on a range of topics making it easier for delegates to choose whether they want to attend all sessions or ‘build a day’ of selected sessions of the most interest to them.

This year the sessions will include a mixture of formats with Presentations, Panel discussions, Case studies and Round table discussion. The IMPA London conference is the perfect place for buyers and suppliers to network, learn and debate.

Session 1 - 9:30am
Key note: Kate Adamson

Over the years the opening session of the IMPA London conference has always delivered. From cross-cultural communication to political insights the lively keynote session will again feature something thought provoking for all attendees.

An inspirational keynote speaker, writer and presenter she offers a visionary perspective on the impact of global megatrends, breakthrough technologies and new generational mindsets and how they will radically transform our lives in the years ahead.

Session 2 - 10:30am
Presentation session: Opex cost report.

An early insight in to the findings of the Annual Drewry Research, Opex Cost report (not published until October). Martin Dixon, Head of Research at Drewry will include a focus on spare parts cost trends.

Presentation session: Data Analytics.

Following several months of research with their customers Liam Herbert, Product Director, Shipserv will share the findings and future possibilities for Category based procurement.

Presentation session: Auditing.

Lloyds’ Register developed and deliver Marine Auditing for Purchasing Professionals to IMPA requirements. David Lloyd, Marine External Training Manager, Lloyds Register will focus on some of the key insights, practical and relevant solutions that can improve your business.

Session 3 - 12:00pm
Panel discussion session: Logistics the hidden costs and challenges.

What you need to know about ‘tricky countries’.

A panel of 3 specialists’ will share their knowledge, experience and challenges being faced when shipping spare parts to countries such as:

  • Brazil: Bruno Liete, Boa Praca, Brazil
  • South Africa Mari Pennanen, South Africa
  • India: Jeet Khona, Sea Line Shipping, India

Session 4 - 14:15pm
Senior Managers Forum:

In this session the subject matter will be directed towards Senior Management level procurement issues and trends. The key drivers and strategies that the modern procurement professional faces, the methods and practises now available to succeed.

Session 5 - 15:15pm
Round table discussion session:

Senior Purchasing Managers will come to this session with a particular topic or issue, which they want to discuss and share ideas on. This session is designed to be relaxed and informal to enable the conversation to flow and ideas to be exchanged. After an allotted time each Purchaser will then move to the next round table to enable all attendees to have the opportunity of discussing each topic in smaller groups.

The IMPA London Conference is rounded off with a networking drinks reception for all attendees to relax and reflect on what will have been a day full of new ideas and potential opportunities.

The conference showcases many of the industry’s key thinkers and leading organisations but the brief is always to present ideas and strategies in a practical and easy to follow way because we appeal to such a wide audience from all over the world. Although the conference is presented in English the organisers aim to provide notes, programme packs and other delegate documentation each year.

During the course of the spring preceding the autumn event the organisers publish the conference programme and event preview guide and you will find that here on the IMPA London website in due course.
